CCCC 11 contains a twelfth century copy of the encyclopedic De rerum naturis ("On the natures of things") by the ninth century theologian Hrabanus Maurus. As a late copy of Hrabanus' work, the manuscript has been little studied, considered less important for its distance from its source text. However, the manuscript is perhaps deserving of more attention: not only does it represent "a renewed interest in Carolingian scholarship in twelfth century England," as Parker on the Web notes, but also a carefully executed manuscript peppered with several highly decorated initials, of which the illuminated "P" on f. 2v is the most elaborate.
